We got this wonderful update on Speckles, one of our favorite all-time mother dogs (her litter was called the Top Hats). Speckles adores her beautiful little human "sister" and would do anything for her, except for when Sarah asks Speckles to read to her.
Here's Deuce, playing happily in the snow. He's a happy, not-too-bright, loveable, greedy beagle who will fill your life with laughter. If you are interested in adopting him, check out the links on our Web site.
We often get dogs who have thus far lived what we call a life of benign neglect. Although they haven't been given adequate care, they also haven't been mistreated. Often they have lived outside in a dog house if they are lucky.
This is why our fosters are so invaluable (one of many reasons) because they introduce dogs who have sometimes never been inside a house to living as a family pet.
We at Hedgesville Hounds are grateful for our dedicated volunteers, and the amazing work they do everyday on behalf of animals.
One of our volunteers, Barbara Dodge, brought a little, irascible dog into our group, and has fostered this Beagle/Shepherd mix, whom she named Tulip. Tulip had formerly spent a year and a half in a dog shelter, presenting her crabbly little face over and over to visitors, but no one ever wanted her.
Thanks to Barb's loving care, Tulip has blossomed into a dog who now believes she has value. We were touched to receive a donation recently with this note attached:
Please accept this donation in honor of Barbara Dodge and the wonderful foster care she's given to Tulip. Thank you.
